Teddy Bridgewater and the Louisville Cardinals take on the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington this Saturday

10 Sep 2013 / 0 Comments / in news/by skgammon3

Good morning great people of Lexington, Louisville and all of Kentucky. Hope everyone had a great weekend and is having a good start to the week. This past weekend was pretty solid for both UK and Louisville as each team beat up on a weaker opponent. Louisville moves to 2-0 and Kentucky moves to 1-1. This is always a fun week, as the fan bases begin their smack-talking and trying to get under eachothers’ skins heading into the big game. Really no matter where you live in Kentucky, you have a side that you root for and there are few times during the year where you will root harder and more intensely for your team.

Teddy Bridgewater continued his Heisman trophy campaign last week as well, now leading Louisville with 752 yards and 9 TDs through 2 games.

No matter who you are rooting for this weekend, and whether you live in Lexington or Louisville, our movers hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the game!

If you are looking for movers in Louisville, KY then be sure to check our Cardinal Moving website at http://cardinalsmoving.com or our Facebook page at https://facebook.com/cardinalmoving or on Twitter at https://twitter.com/cardinalsmoving

Hello Louisville Kentuckians, hope everyone had a great weekend and is looking forward to a great week.  Our movers were hanging out  this weekend and this question came up and became highly debated….who makes the best steak in Louisville KY??  There are a lot of great choices (as evidenced by the passionate debate haha).  So we ask you great people of Louisville KY…who makes the best steak in the Louisville KY / Jefferson County region?

Here the top options that our Louisville KY movers argued about:

  1. Jeff Ruby’s Louisville Steakhouse: 325 W Main St #120, Louisville, KY 40202 — (502) 584-0102
  2. Pat’s Steakhouse: 2437 Brownsboro Rd, Louisville, KY 40206 — (502) 893-2062
  3. Morton’s the Steakhouse: 626 W Main St, Louisville, Kentucky 40202 — (502) 584-0421
  4. Del Frisco’s: 4107 Oechsli Ave, St Matthews, KY 40207 — (502) 897-7077
  5. Eddie Merlot’s: 455 S 4th St # 102, Louisville, KY 40202 — (502) 584-3266

So what do you think Louisville KY?  Who makes the best steak?!

The History of Lexington, KY (best city on Earth according to our movers, home inspectors, furniture repairers, pressure washers, mobile detailers and junk removers)

24 Jun 2013 / 0 Comments / in news/by skgammon3
Happy Sunday night/Monday morning Lexington, KY. I hope everyone has had a great weekend and is looking forward to a great work week!

The summer weather is beautiful and great if you are able to get out the pool or golf course.

Lexington is the most beautiful city on Earth, here is an intro to the "history of Lexington KY" (read more here: http://www.archive.org/stream/cu31924028845993/cu31924028845993_djvu.txt):

The first settlers of Lexington found here a well, regularly
and artificially built with stone,* a domestic convenience
unknown among the American Indians, and they plowed
up curious earthen vessels,! such as could only have been
manufactured by at least a semi-civilized people. In 1790,
an old lead mine, which had every appearance of having
been once worked and abandoned, was opened near this
city.t Kentucky's first historian^ tells us of stone sepul-
chres, at Lexington, built in pyramid shape, and still ten-
anted by human skeletons, as late as two years after the
siege of Bryant's Station. " They are built, " says he, " in
a way totally different from that of the Indians." Early
in this century, a large circular earthen mound, about six
feet in height, occupied a part of what is now called Spring
street, between Hill and Maxwell. It was located between
the property of Dr. Bell and the rear outbuildings of Mr.
P. Yeiser. In course of time it was leveled, and was
found to consist of layers of earth of three different colors.
In the center was discovered an earthen vessel of curious
form and a quantity of half-burnt wood.§ The mound is
supposed to have served the purpose of a sacrificial altar.
A stone mound, which stood not far from Rassell's cave, in
this county, was opened about 1815 and found to contain
human bones.*

These well-attested facts, together with the tradition re-
lated to this day of an extensive cave existing under the
city of Lexington, relieve of its improbable air the state-
ment that a subterranean cemetery of the original inhab-
itants of this place was discovered here nearly a century
ago.f In 1776, three years before the first permanent
white settlement was made at Lexington, some venturesome
hunters, most probably from Boonesborough, had their curi-
osity excited by the strange appearance of some stones they
saw in the woods where our city now stands. They removed
these stones, and came to others of peculiar workmanship,

which, upon examination, they found had been placed there
to conceal the entrance to an ancient catacomb, formed in
the solid rock, fifteen feet below the surface of the earth.
They discovered that a gradual descent from the opening »
brought them to a passage, four feet wide and seven feet
high, leading into a spacious apartment, in which were
numerous niches, which they were amazed to find occupied
by bodies which, from their perfect state of preservation,
had evidently been embalmed. For six years succeeding
this discovery, the region in which this catacomb was
located, was visited by bands of raging Indiatra and aveng-
ing whites ; and during this period of blood and passion,
the catacomb was dispelled, and its ancient mummies, prob-
ably the rarest remains of a forgotten era that man has
ever seen, were well nigh swept out of existence. But not
entirely. Some years after the red men and the settlers
had ceased hostilities, the old sepulchre was again visited
and inspected.* It was found to be three hundred feet
long, one hundred feet wide, and eighteen feet high. The
floor was covered with rubbish and fine dust, from which
was extracted several sound fragments of human limbs.
At this time the entrance to this underground cemetery
of Ancient Lexington is totally unknown. For nearly
three-quarters of a century, its silent chamber has not
echoed to a human footfall. It is hidden from sight, as
efiectually as was once buried Pompeii, and even the idea
that it ever existed is laughed at by those who walk over
it, as heedless of its near presence as were the generations
of incredulous peasants who unconsciously danced above
the long lost villa of Diomedes,

That Lexington is built upon the site of an ancient
walled city of vast extent and population, is not only evi-
dent from the facts here detailed, but the opinion becomes
almost a certainty when viewed in the light of the historic
proofs that can be produced to support the claim, that all

the region round about her was at a distant period in the
past the permanent seat of a comparatively enlightened
people. As early as 1794,* it was well and widely known
that in the neighborhood of Lexington there existed two
distinctly defined fortifications furnished with ditches and
bastions. One of these ancient monuments was visited in
1820 by Rafinesque, the celebrated professor of natural
history in Transylvania University, a gentleman whose
opinions on the subject of the ancient remains in the Mis-
sissippi Valley are so often quoted by historians and so
much respected. His map and plate of the remains near
Lexington constitute one of the most valuable features of
the " Smithsonian Contributions."t He saysj of the forti-
fication already named:

"I have visited, with a friend, the ancient monument
or fortification situated about two and a half miles from
Lexington, in an easterly direction, and above the head of
Hickman creek; and we have ascertained that it is formed
by an irregular circumvallation of earth, surrounded by an
outside ditch.

Louisville Cardinals are National Champions (Lexington, KY excited about next season)

09 Apr 2013 / 0 Comments / in news/by skgammon3

Louisville, KY and Lexington, KY both have college basketball heavily on their minds today…as do all our movers, pressure washers, home inspectors, mobile detailers, junk removers, pest controllers and furniture repairers.  The great basketball fans of our great state all have plenty to be happy and excited about.  Kentucky fans can be extremely happy and excited about being 2012 National Champions and being the favorite to win the title next year with the best recruiting class of all time coming in.  Louisville fans obviously have plenty to be happy and excited about as well…winning the 2012 title and having solid recruits to come in and keep them above water next season, despite losing Siva, Dieng, Smith and probably Behanan.

Here is the NBC top 25 for next season (http://m.nbcsports.com/content/way-too-early-preseason-top-25):

1. KENTUCKY
Record: 21-12, lost in 1st round of NIT
Who do they lose?: Nerlens Noel*, Archie Goodwin, Julius Mays, Ryan Harrow
Who comes back?: Alex Poythress, Kyle Wiltjer, Willie Cauley-Stein
Newcomers?: Julius Randle, Andrew Harrison, Aaron Harrison, James Young, Dakari Johnson, Marcus Lee
Outlook: We’re assuming here that Andrew Wiggins is going to be heading to Florida State, but that doesn’t really matter. Kentucky’s recruiting class is still the best recruiting class of all time, and they also return two future lottery picks in Poythress and Cauley-Stein. I have some doubts about this group, but it won’t change the fact that they are the favorite to win it all as of today.

2. ARIZONA
Record: 27-8, lost in the Sweet 16
Who do they lose?: Mark Lyons, Solomon Hill, Kevin Parrom,
Who comes back?: Nick Johnson, Grant Jerrett, Brandon Ashley, Kaleb Tarczewski
Newcomers?: TJ McConnell, Aaron Gordon, Rondae Jefferson
Outlook: I have concerns about the makeup of Arizona’s roster. They have an abundance of front court talent but not enough spots to play them. Is Aaron Gordon a three or a four? If he’s a four, how does Sean Miller balance minutes for Jerrett, Ashley and Tarczewski? The addition of McConnell at the point will be huge, and I think Johnson is primed for a big year. Throw in Rondae Jefferson, and there is plenty to like with this team.

3. DUKE
Record: 30-6, lost in the Elite 8
Who do they lose?: Mason Plumlee, Seth Curry, Ryan Kelly
Who comes back?: Quinn Cook, Rasheed Sulaimon, Amile Jefferson, Alex Murphy, Marshall Plumlee
Newcomers?: Rodney Hood, Jabari Parker, Matt Jones, Semi Ojeleye
Outlook: It feels weird ranking a team that loses their top three scorers this high, but it’s very much deserved. Parker is going to be a star, which is a good thing when you consider that either Sulaimon or Mississippi State transfer Hood will end up being the third option for this team. Cook isn’t a great point guard, and someone from the trio of Jefferson, Murphy and Plumlee is going to have to have a breakout season. But there’s enough talent here to be considered a title contender.

4. FLORIDA
Record: 29-8, lost in the Elite 8
Who do they lose?: Kenny Boynton, Mike Rosario, Erik Murphy
Who comes back?: Patric Young, Scottie Wilbekin, Casey Prather, Michael Frazier, Will Yeguete
Newcomers?: Chris Walker, Kasey Hill, Dorian Finney-Smith, Damontre Harris
Outlook: The Gators lose their top three scorers, but they could end up being even better next season thanks to the infusion of talent they have in their front court. Not only is Young coming back to school, but they add a McDonald’s all-american in Walker and two high-major transfers in Finney-Smith and Harris. Hill is one of the best point guards in the Class of 2013. The key is going to end up being how the rest of Florida’s perimeter attack — Prather, Frazier, Wilbekin — ends up developing.

5. SYRACUSE
Record: 30-10, lost in the Final Four
Who do they lose?: Michael Carter-Williams*, James Southerland, Brandon Triche,
Who comes back?: CJ Fair, Jerami Grant, DaJuan Coleman, Rakeem Christmas, Trevor Cooney
Newcomers?: Tyler Ennis, Ron Patterson, Tyler Roberson, BJ Johnson, Chinonso Obokoh
Outlook: The Orange lose quite a bit this offseason, but with what they bring back and what they bring in, I think that Jim Boeheim will have a successful first season in the ACC. Fair is one of the most underrated players in the country, and I think that both Grant and Cooney will end up having big seasons for the Orange. But with Ennis and Patterson joining them in the back court, along with two more freshmen wings in Roberson and Johnson that are perfectly built for the Cuse zone, the Orange have a bright future.

6. LOUISVILLE
Record: 35-5, won the title
Who do they lose?: Russ Smith, Gorgui Dieng, Peyton Siva
Who comes back?: Chane Behanan, Luke Hancock, Wayne Blackshear, Montrezl Harrell, Kevin Ware
Newcomers?: Chris Jones, Terry Rozier, Akoy Agau, Anton Gill
Outlook: Pitino has already made it clear that Dieng is gone to the NBA, and I have a hard time seeing Smith coming back to school when all it would do is give scouts another year to become concerned about his size in the NBA. That said, Jones is a JuCo transfer that could end up being one of the best point guards in the country, while Terry Rozier could have battled for minutes this season if he hadn’t gone to Hargrave Military Academy. The key is going to end up being Harrell’s development in the middle.

7. MARQUETTE
Record: 26-9, lost in the Elite 8
Who do they lose?: Junior Cadougan, Trent Lockett, Chris Otule
Who comes back?: Vander Blue, Davante Gardner, Jamil Wilson, Todd Mayo
Newcomers?: JaJuan Johnson, Deonte Burton, Duane Wilson, John Dawson, Jameel McKay
Outlook: This could end up being Marquette’s best team since Dwayne Wade resided in Milwaukee. Finding someone to replace Cadougan at the point guard spot is going to be vital, but beyond that, the Golden Eagles bring back a number of key pieces from last season’s Big East co-champs and Elite 8 team. They also add a loaded recruiting class. Buzz Williams is as good as any coach in the country when it comes to coaching up his players, and I bet he still finds a way to convince them they are being underrated even with a ranking this high.

8. MICHIGAN STATE
Record: 27-9, lost in the Sweet 16
Who do they lose?: Derrick Nix, Adreian Payne*
Who comes back?: Keith Appling, Gary Harris*, Branden Dawson, Denzel Valentine, Travis Trice
Newcomers?: Gavin Schilling
Outlook: It feels weird saying this, but Michigan State’s season may depend on whether or not Payne declares for the NBA Draft. Personally, I think that he’s gone. At his size with his athleticism and range on his jump shot, Payne has the tools to be intriguing enough to an NBA GM that he could end up sneaking into the end of the first round. Without Payne, the Spartans simply aren’t going to have enough depth in their front court. I like Schilling, and I think that Matt Costello and Alex Gauna are serviceable, but the Spartans have a ceiling if Payne’s gone.

9. OHIO STATE
Record: 29-8, lost in the Elite 8
Who do they lose?: DeShaun Thomas, Evan Ravenel
Who comes back?: Aaron Craft, Lenzelle Smith, LaQuinton Ross, Sam Thompson, Shannon Scott
Newcomers?: Marc Loving, Kameron Williams
Outlook: The knock on Ohio State this season was that they didn’t have a second scoring option to compliment Thomas, and that will be a problem when he’s in the NBA next year and not launching threes in Columbus. How good will Ross end up being? Can Scott or Smith become 15 point-per-game threats? That will be what ends up determining just how good the Buckeyes end up being.

10. KANSAS
Record: 31-6, lost in the Sweet 16
Who do they lose?: Elijah Johnson, Jeff Withey, Travis Releford, Kevin Young, Ben McLemore*
Who comes back?: Perry Ellis, Naadir Tharpe, Andrew White, Jamari Traylor
Newcomers?: Wayne Selden, Joel Embiid, Brannen Greene, Conner Frankamp, Frank Mason
Outlook: You want to know why I have Kansas 10th? Because of Bill Self. It never matters the kind of talent or the age of the talent on his roster. Bill Self wins basketball games. And he’ll do that again in 2013-2014.
